Born in Kuala Lumpur, Eelyn Cowden is a classically trained pianist. Eelyn began her musical studies at the age of five. She holds a Masters of Music in Piano Performance with emphasis on Piano Pedagogy from Texas State University-San Marcos and her Bachelors of Music (HONS) in Piano Performance from UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur.Eelyn had the privilege to study piano with Dr. Jason Kwak, Morag Yong and Shareen Tan; and piano pedagogy with Dr. Kyung-Ae Lee.

As an educator, Eelyn is a committed piano instructor with more than 15 years of experience. Her students are active participants of HMTA events, Whitlock Theory Tests, and ABRSM examinations. While in Malaysia, her students were also diploma candidates for the Australian Guild of Music and Speech (AGMS).

Continuing education is very important to Eelyn and she takes advantages of piano pedagogy conferences and workshops every year to keep her teaching skills and musical knowledge updated, relevant and fresh.

Eelyn is currently in the faculty of The International Music Academy (2019-present), and Pearland School of Music (2019-present). Her past teaching positions includes being a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Texas State University teaching Class Piano I and II (2010-2011), a piano instructor at Clavier-Werke (2012-2014), Northwest School of Music (2012-2019),

Vibrante School of Music (Malaysia) (2005-2009), Sunwave Music SDN BHD (Malaysia) (2007-2009), and Global Learning Centre (Malaysia) (2007-2009). In July 2011, Eelyn presented her research poster on the Piano Education System in Malaysia at the National Conference of Keyboard Pedagogy in Lombard, Illinois
